I remember about 1962 or 63 I called Bucks home in Bakersfield but the voice on the other end was not Buck. I first ask for buck then I ask who I was talking to? He said this is Tom Brumley, we began to talk and I told him who I was and that I had sent Buck a guitar strap I had made for him and was checking to see if he received it.
Tom said he did and had taken it (I think) to Europe with him. I said he probably left it there. Tom answered, no way that he really liked the strap, I figured he just wanted to make me feel good, "and he did". Then in Tom's cheerful way ask, if you made me one how do you think I would look with my steel guitar hanging around my neck? This was just Tom's way of showing his sense of humor. A very nice and friendly person to talk to.
In a phone conversation some months back, in 2008 we were talking about church and the songs his father had written when he commented, yes, dad wrote over 800 songs and that he was planing to record many of them soon. I don't know if he got around to doing that, this was our last conversation and I just haven't heard.
I'm glad to say Tom's testimony for our Lord and savior Jesus Christ was a true blessing. I do believe he is in heaven now and that some day we will meet and talk again.
Tom Brumley will truly be missed by all who's life he has touched.
My condolences to Rolene family and friends.
My prayers are with you.
Till we meet again
